Fit and Fab Friday: Getting Ready for the Holidays!

With the holiday’s right around the corner, I decided to incorporate fitness back into my life to avoid what Haley (Modern Family) calls the “cookie weight.” My favorite workout is Zumba. For those of you who might not know, Zumba is an aerobics workout inspired by various styles of Latin Dance. From the booty shaking, the pumped up Spanish music, group atmosphere and of course the awesome feeling of just kicking butt at the gym are just a few reasons why I love this workout. Now I know some of you might be thinking, “ I need to go back to the gym but I just don’t have enough time or I feel too tired to work out after a long day,” Unfortunately, I know the feeling all too well.

So how do you get back into the habit of working out again? Start slow with a 20 minute exercise, 3-5 times a week and give yourself weekends off to enjoy other activities. On days you do not feel like going to the gym, look up a fun youtube video to exercise along to. View the workouts as time for yourself and do something fun afterwards like making a delicious smoothie or relax at the hot tub. By setting up a reward, it will give you something to look forward to after your workout. Another way to incorporate fitness back into your life is to ask a friend or coworker to join! Not only is it more fun but you can work out and keep the calories off together.

Now you are probably thinking, “That’s too hard or I just don’t have time to go to the gym? “ I am here to tell you, you are probably right but do it anyways. On some days, it will be painful and you will come up with every excuse possible not to go. On other days you will just hate going altogether but like anything else, you just have to get back up and try again. Best of all, we are in this with you.
