The beginning of something new

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to my different than usual but hopefully inspiring Wednesday blog posts! For all of those that read yesterdays blog post you know that I am trying to eat healthy and exercise and that I will be posting a recipe for a tasty egg and cheese pita.

Changing your lifestyle is not something you can do overnight but as soon as you do start to eat healthy and exercise you find yourself feeling so much better.  You have more energy, you feel better about yourself, and your body is healthier too.

So first things first, I started by going to the store with a huge shopping list of everything I needed to buy to make many healthy meals.  I then planned out everything I would be eating for the next week trust me this helps! Now people like food with lots of flavor and they also prefer a variety.  Well eating healthy you can do all of this!  Something I have learned is that spices can and will become your best friend.  You can do so much with them.  Take chicken for instance add some olive oil, vinegar, a spice, let sit to marinade, then throw in a pan, cook, and serve!  Very simple and tasty.

So here is my shopping list that I went to Wegmans with: Strawberries Blueberries Laughing Cow Swiss Cheese Olive Oil Spritz Mrs. Dash-Tomato, Basil, and Garlic Spinach Chicken Breast Tomatoes Low-Sodium Soy Sauce Cider Vinegar Carribean Jerk Seasoning Ground Turkey (99% lean) Romaine Lettuce Organic Salsa Low fat cottage cheese Ground red pepper Italian seasoning Red wine vinegar Egg plant Diced tomatoes with garlic canned Ground mustard Honey Vanilla extract Large raw shrimp Salmon Roasted garlic and herb seasoning Limes Lemons Cajun seasoning Balsamic vinegar spritz Basil Parmesian cheese Broccoli Cauliflower Apples Couscous Brown rice Greek yogart Whole wheat mini peta bread

So for breakfast I have been eating something a friend showed me several years ago and it tastes amazing. Ingredients: 1 Whole Wheat Mini peta bread (Wegmans sells these under the wegmans brand) (55 calories) 1 laughing cow cheese wedge (35 calories) 3 egg whites (48-51 calories)

Cook your egg whites by either microwaving them in a egg microwave dish or boil them in a eggies container.  If you want to cook them on the stove with oil the oil will add some additional calories.

Spread the laughing cow cheese on the pita bread (you can toast the bread it you prefer) and then top with the egg whites and enjoy! Somethimes I eat this with a handful of blueberries or strawberries or both.
